Paris Hilton VideoThanksgiving break was good… saw the family, ate skyline chili etc. This week and next week are the last 2 weeks of classes, and I have more work than ever. Also, I’m in the process of buying a pair of turntables and perhaps some other equiptment, in hopes of starting to do more live dj gigs… should be interesting.

Finally, for your amusement, I give you two videos.

First, the BEER DICE video, which I made while bored one saturday night at home. Good fun, tell me what you think.

Second, is the PARIS HILTON video, complete with that eerie night vision green tinge. Click the link and then click open.

garage a trois at the fox

Last night Matt, Lauren and I went to see Garage a Trois at the Fox Theater. Incredible show, they even recorded it live and sold copies of the show directly after.. pretty cool. As usual, Skerik was absolutely insane, Charlie Hunters 8 string bass/guitar was amazing, and Stan Moore’s drums were on the spot. “The crowd was huge and so were the beats.” hehe.

Here’s a review from allmusic.com of the bands latest album, Emphasizer.

The first Garage a Trois EP (Mysteryfunk) came out of sessions for Stanton Moore’s first album, All Kooked Out! While All Kooked Out! was funky and swinging, the Garage a Trois release was all improvised, moodier, and had a darker, dub-like feel. Five years later, after numerous gigs, Garage a Trois is back with Emphasizer, the group’s first full-length recording. For this one, Stanton Moore (drums), Skerik (sax, keys), and Charlie Hunter (eight-string guitar) have added percussionist Mike Dillon, and their sound has evolved to somewhere between those first sessions together (All Kooked Out!, Mysteryfunk). There’s still plenty of funk and groove, but plenty of extra atmosphere as well, often courtesy of Skerik’s excellent analog synth touches (he’s great on sax as well). Hunter continues to amaze; just check his nimble fretwork on “Plena for My Grundle.” Listeners also get a chance to hear him hit the distortion and rock out (while still throwing down basslines!), as on “A-Frame” and “Delta Skelta.” Of course, Moore plays great on the drum kit, and Dillon colors things nicely with his vibes, marimba, and other percussion goodies. Emphasizer is a great record by what’s become a fantastic side project; let’s hope that more is heard from these guys. — Sean Westergaard of Allmusic.com

  • Going to England

    Subject: Going to England

Ok, so I just booked my plane tickets to London, England. I’ll be leaving Granada on Tuesday, take a bus to Madrid, and then fly Madrid to London on Wednesday. I’m returning to Madrid on the 19th, and flying home from Madrid on the 20th.

I don’t really know why I’m going to England. I found a really good fare online, and decided why not, its time for a change anyway. I’m thinking about finding a hostel in the city and spending my fist week in the city proper, seeing some shows and going to the museums and clubs etc, then taking the remaining week and a half to check out the English “countryside”. If you have any suggestions as to what I should do in London, or know where I should stay, let me know!

  • Geneva, Switzerland

Chilling in Geneva, Switzerland now…. photos when I return to Spain on tuesday…

  • Carnival in Cadiz, Spain

This past weekend, I went, along with pretty much all of Spain, to Carnival in Cazdiz. Cadiz is a little nothingness town on the southwestern coast of spain (no, not the southwestern coast of the Ibearian penninsula, that would be lagos, portugal). Rooms in hostels and hotels were sold out months in advance, so we ventured down there with no place to stay. We found a bus company that ran a shuttle down there… 20euros there and back. So saturday afternoon Thai, Emiko, Ola, Per, Chrissy, Lindsay and I hopped on one of the many busses going to Cadiz. We arrived around 6, had some food, and then the partying began. It was pretty amazing, the entire town was filled with people dressed in every possible costume. There were stages with music acts set up in all the large plazas, and bars on the streets. The whole entire town partied all night, and in the morning, those without beds (which was about half the people there) woke up in the streets or on the beach. I think the most incredible part was waking up on the beach in the morning, unbelievable dirty and sandy, and walking around town, just looking at the wreck of a city. Anyway, I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story…

    Thanksgiving–

So anyway, Thanksgiving went pretty well. I went home to chill with my family and see some old friends. Chris and I chilled alot, and on friday night, Chris and Ali (Chris’ sister) and I went out to see “The Ring“. It was scary. Some history on me and Chris and scary movies. At the end of this past summer, we met up in NYC to chill out and visit some friends. One night we were in the city, we decided to go see “Signs“, that mel gibson movie about aliens and crop circles. Yeah, we didnt think it would be too scary, but pretty much the whole movies, we were literally shaking and covering our eyes. It was insane, we were totally completely freaked out…i think the culmination of it was that scene where they show the home video on the news (in the movie) and its of those kids in mexico or wherever freaking out inside their house…the camera is looking out one window, wiith the kids in front of the camera looking out the window…then the kids and the camera pan to the left to look out another window that is kind of looking down an alley…after about 5 seconds of the kids freaking out but nothing out the window, you just see this sketched out silowette of an alien take 2 steps across the alley and dissapear…holy shit, that was freaky.

So anyway, we saw the ring the other day…it was pretty scary, although i didnt think it was as scary at Signs. There are all these scenes where they actually show what was on “The Tape”, and i kept closing my eyes cause i was freaked out…amazing.

Chilled at Waltor’s house with Alex, Lucy (sunshine), Liz, Ben, Eric and Sean….it was interesting seeing everyone again.

Other than that, the rest of thanksgiving went well….my sister Jill had a party at our house for all her old high school friends, and i went and partied with some of my friends. Oh, and on the way back, I chilled with Hanna, one of my sisters friends who happens to go to the same school as I do. In fact, i am pretty good friends witih hanna’s older sister Rachel. It was interesting hanging out with her and whatnot.

    Spain–

So my project to go to Spain is coming along nicely… I sent in my Visa application to the Spanish Consulate in Chicago today. I hope they grant me a visa and mail it back to me in time. Also, I confirmed my flight reservations today, which means I’m definetly going! Excelent! Instead of the big group flight which leaves from Miami, I just got a flight from Cincinnati to New York, then New York to Madrid, Spain. If you didn’t notice….I live in Boulder, Colorado. My flight leaves from Cincinnati, Ohio. So I think what I’m going to do is im going to drive my car back to cincinnati and leave it at home when im in Spain. So if you want to drive to cincinnati with me sometime in Januray, drop me a line! Lets make it a road trip! word. Also im having some thoughts about my course selection and whatnot for spain, i may have to stay in school a while longer, but on the other hand, i might get a minor in spanish.

    Jobs–

Ok, so after this semester ends on December 17th, im going to have to get a job so i can make some cash money to spend in Spain. Got any ideas? Want to give me a job? please? I think im gonna try to work as a parking dude (valet parking, NOT a meter maid(never!)) Or I’m gonna try to work for a catering company….we’ll see…

    Holiday Gifting–

Ok, so for this holiday season, I got a pretty sweet present from my little brother Jason. He got me this ultra cool wireless optical rechargeable mouse.Cash money. hehe, if you want, click Comment under this entry and let everyone know what you have gotten for the holidays. Oh, and in case you care, mywishlist is online.

    Thant is all for now…

    wait…check this out..
